Leadership

Phases I and II covered the years 2000-2010 (P20RR015577). These phases were led first by J. Donald Capra, M.D., then by Judith A. James, M.D., Ph.D. Cores supported during these phases included the Strategic Scientific Support Core, Signal Transduction Core Facility, Imaging Core Facility, Peptide Synthesis Core Facility, Microinjection Core Facility, Microarray Core Facility and Recruiting Core.

The transition to Phase III for the Science in a Culture of Mentoring COBRE was funded from 2010-2015 (P30RR031152/ P30GM103510), with ongoing no-cost extension. Phase III was led by Judith A. James, M.D., Ph.D., Joel Guthridge, Ph.D., Linda Thompson, Ph.D., Ken Smith, Ph.D. and Melissa Munroe, M.D./Ph.D. To achieve the Phase III mission of sustaining the Center independent of COBRE funding, some of the previous cores were transitioned to independence with a charge-back structure (e.g., Imaging Core, Microarray Core, Peptide Synthesis Core and Signal Transduction Core). Other core services were outsourced (Microinjection Core) or were assumed by the OMRF administration (Recruiting Core). The Administrative Core replaced the Strategic Scientific Support Core. New cores were started during this period, including Clinical and Biorepository, Immunophenotyping, Serum Analyte and Biomarker and Human Monoclonal Antibody Cores.
